FOUNDED TO SERVE ALL CHILDREN
The Child Development Center of the Hamptons was founded in 1997 to insure that children of the East End of Long Island would have the opportunity to learn and grow in an inclusive environment. Chartered by the New York State Department of Education, the Child Development Center of the Hamptons Preschool is an authorized Preschool Evaluation Site. We offer services for children from birth to five years of age.
The Child Development Center of the Hamptons Preschool is equipped to provide services to children who meet the New York State eligibility criteria for early intervention or preschool special education. We provide related services in speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, social skills, applied behavior analysis, and counseling for children qualifying under New York State regulations. All children learn side by side with their peers. The diversity of culture, learning styles and abilities in each of our classrooms enhances everyone's educational experience. Enrichment programming is also provided for children with giftedness. This includes prereading and reading as well as a mathematics coach for math skills.
WELL-PLANNED LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The Child Development Center of the Hamptons Preschool uses the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence as our classroom curriculum. The Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence is aligned with the New York State standards for early learning. The children learn developmentally appropriate skills in a logical and sequential manner. By providing a solid and well-rounded foundation of skills in all developmental areas, we lay the groundwork for future learning. Our goal at the Child Development Center of the Hamptons Preschool is to build each student’s unique strength and address each student’s individual needs. In this way, we prepare every child to reach his or her potential.
SMALL CLASSES
With limited class size and a low ratio of students to instructors, each child at the Child Development Center benefits from individualized attention. By providing learning experiences in both large and small groups, our teachers seek to meet each child’s individual learning needs. Full and half day classes are available.
CREATIVE ARTS
The act of creating is as important as the creation at CDCH. Local artists guide students through the creative arts experiences. This provides an outlet for creative expression and individuality, and enhanced each child’s self-esteem. A rich variety of leaning opportunities allow children to explore and express themselves through painting, drawing, sculpting, drama, music, and movement. Each student is encouraged to develop his or her own voice as a means to communicate thoughts, ideas and visions. Children additionally have access to an enriched physical experience, utilizing our sensory gym and our new, sophisticated outdoor playground.
SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
Parents are an important part of our school community. Consistent communication between school and home is encouraged and supported. We recognize that children achieve to their best ability when parents and teachers work together. As such we provide myriad opportunities for parents and staff to communicate, and include parent training and Saturday academies to meet identified family needs.
