ProgramsEDUCATIONAL INTEGRATIONThe CDCH Charter School provides an integrated instructional program for both general and special education students to learn together. Classrooms are a maximum of 15 students taught by two certified teachers. The CDCH Charter School provides support and related services to both general and special education students including counseling, occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy and ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis), with an emphasis on character education and empathic practices. PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE The CDCH Charter School opened in January 2001 with grades kindergarten through third. Each year, an additional grade has been added, with the final addition, Eighth Grade, added for the 2005-2006 school year, completing CDCH's academic program. The CDCH Charter School adheres to all New York State Standards of Education and our curriculum is based on these standards and character education, mapped across the student’s academic life. Differentiated and individualized academic, social and character education, which stresses both academic achievement and personal development for each and every student, is provided in a supportive and cooperative environment. This is the hallmark of the CDCH Charter School experience. INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION All CDCH students take part in all New York State assessments and testing. In addition, each CDCH student is provided with an individual Student Centered Plan that includes a narrative report of the student’s goals and objectives and identifies learning styles, areas of difficulty/mastery, grade level, alternative measures and assessments, and social behavioral and emotional readiness. Student Centered Plans are reviewed and updated quarterly, and are shared with parents. Teaming for the student’s maximum potential is another unique aspect of the CDCH Charter School ’s vision. Classroom and related service staff, paraprofessional staff, parents and students are important parts of our team approach. MARCH 2005 CDCH CHARTER SCHOOL ESTABLISHES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE "DREAM" PROJECT The CDCH Charter School Announces their partnership with the Flavia Vidal's CADIN school in the Dominican Republic through The DREAM Project (Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring Project).
